Hsipaw, Lashio, Muse

This route leads to the Chinese border, the roads twisting and getting higher and higher on the Shan plateau, until you arrive at the destination village. The scenery on both sides of the road is very colourful. The purpose of this trip is to escape from temples and pagodas and meet the friendly ethnic people who call themselves Highlanders. Chat and walk along the creek in the village with a local guide who speaks minority dialects. Enjoy the many unusual sights and experiences along the way.

Maymyo: about a 90-minute drive from Mandalay. Well known for its large botanical garden, water falls, colonial architecture, and unique atmosphere. Among the many popular activities and places to visit here; pony carriage ride around town, visit the local market where you can find a lot of forestry products, relaxing walk among the flowers, orchids, and birds at the Botanical Gardens, then visit either the Pwek Kauk or Anisakan waterfalls where you will meet many local families or join a lively Burmese picnic.

Hsipaw:  a small town on the banks of the Myitnge River, it also serves as a base station for light treks in the area. If you read the book Twilight Over Burma: My Life As a Shan Princess, visiting this town will be more meaningful. You can visit the old Royal residence and chat with the relatives of the Shan princess. Activities include half-day boat trips, hikes to Shan Villages and nearby waterfalls. Life here is very tranquil and relaxing. In fact, some travellers say that the clock ticks slower in Hsipaw! If you are an adventure seeker and love off-the-beaten path destinations, we can propose an adventuresome trip from Hsipaw to Namsam or Kyaukme.

In this area, we have many possibilities to integrate following activities: trekking, boat trips, motor bike rides. If you are interested in adding any of the above places to your itinerary, you should count on a minimum of 4 extra days.
